Abazi Vigjilenca - Assistant Professor of European Law at Maastricht University

Dr. Vigjilenca Abazi is Assistant Professor of European Law at Maastricht University, The Netherlands. Previously, Dr. Abazi was a resident Fellow at Yale Law School (2019), Emile Noel Fellow at NYU School of Law (2018), and Fulbright Scholar at Columbia Law School (2014). She holds PhD and LLM degree from University of Amsterdam and LLM degree from Yale Law School. Dr. Abazi has (co)authored three books and over 30 scientific peer-reviewed publications in leading international journals on issues of whistleblowing, accountability, and transparency. She has been invited speaker to over 40 lectures and talks at universities worldwide including at Harvard Law School, Oxford University, European University Institute, University of Tokyo, FGV Brazil, NYU (campuses: Abu Dhabi, New York, Florence, Paris), Sciences Po Paris. Her work has been translated in Russian, German, and Spanish and featured in news media such as Bloomberg, Der Spiegel, and Le Monde.
On whistleblowing, Dr. Abazi has offered legal advice to the European Parliament and the Council of Europe and co-drafted the model EU Directive for protection of whistleblowers. In 2018, Dr. Abazi was awarded the prestigious VENI grant from the Dutch Research Council given to “outstanding researchers who display a striking talent for scientific research” and in 2020 she received the Early Career Award by The Royals Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences for her work on whistleblowing in the European Union.

Andrew Samuels

Andrew is a recognised expert in establishing and maintaining whistleblowing programmes that protect and benefit organisations, their leadership and staff, customers and stakeholders. He has been an active participant in the development of ISO37002 the international standard for whistleblowing management systems, provided industry input to the UK All Party Parliamentary Group on Whistleblowing, participated by invitation in the UNODC / IOC Reporting Mechanisms in Sports Guide as well as supporting organisations across multiple sectors in establishing and running effective whistleblowing programmes. Andrew is a frequent media commentator and panelist at events such as the Cambridge Symposium on Economic Crime and Thomson Reuters International Compliance Congress.

Jens Moerman - Manager - KPMG 

Jens joined in 2012 the Internal Audit, Risk & Compliance Services department of KPMG in September after obtaining his Master degree in Commercial Sciences. He transferred to the Forensic department in 2013 but is still involved in internal audit and internal control assignments. Within Forensic, Jens is focusing on Fraud Investigation engagements, Contract Compliance and Software Asset Management.
